Heidi Maria Schwarck
As designer of Jones New York Dress, Bill Blass and Tahari, Heidi Maria Schwarck dressed America's career women through much of the 90s. It was the birth of her first two children, Zoe and Maximilian, that turned her focus from career to family. As the 90s ended she traded New York¹s high profile fashion world for the mountains off the coast of Malibu and a life with family and friends. After three years of designing interiors, landscaping and life, the fashion-bug bit again. It was the birth of her third daughter, Luna, that brought Heidi¹s talent back into the open. "It started with a hat. Newborn, Luna was bald, and constantly mistaken for a boy. I made her a hat that looked as if she had little pigtails. I could not walk a block without being stopped by people who wanted to know where I got it!", says Heidi. Things took off from there.
Tired of looking at generic plastic baby bottles, she designed stylish bottle-covers. "I wanted to make those practical everyday things beautiful and special", says Heidi. A small collection of knits, dresses and accessories premiered for Holiday 2002 at exclusive stores in California and Europe. In response to the overwhelming success, Heidi extended the collection for Spring / Summer 2004 with exclusive clothing and accessories for the newborn baby girl through 5 years, including 100 percent cotton hand-knits and baby gift items. Precious and adorable - LunaLuna merges the best elements of a breezy California lifestyle with a European flair for beauty and detail. "The California outdoors, the beauty of the ocean and the mountains are definitely as great an inspiration to me as my Scandinavian heritage." As a busy mom of three, she knows that practicality rules. All the styles - even the most precious and whimsical - are all designed with comfort in mind: "I choose only the softest materials", says Heidi, "pre-shrunk, washable with optional or no ironing."
