Our obsession for finding the softest cotton available to make our Squiggles by Charlie collection has taken us to Peru.  We found the PIMA COTTON we were searching for in the fertile Piura Valley, 900 kilometers north of Lima.  The pima cotton grown there is said to be the very best in the world.  The farmers who raise it say it is "suave como el pelo de un angel".  This translates to "soft as the hair of an angel".  Once you touch one of our garments made from our 100% combed Pima Cotton, you'll know what they mean.

As a company, we are concerned with the dyes and processes that give our Pima Cotton the beautiful rich colors and wonderful finish to the fabric.  All of our dyes are approved to German Standards and are AZO free, so there is never a worry about a child having an allergic reaction.  Keeping our world clean is also important to us and we have certifications that show that all dyes and processes are biodegradable and not harmful to our environment.

Peruvian Highlands, Inc. is known by a different name in Peru.  Our parent company is called El Ayni, SA.  In the native Indian language, El Ayni means "Sharing Together".  And Sharing is exactly what we do.  It is our company mission to give the people of Peru jobs.  Through our competitive prices, we have been successful in keeping 200 people in Lima employed.  In the next year, we will be expanding our production to one of the poorest areas in Peru - Puno.  With their native talents, these artisans produce our beautiful hand embroideries and applique's that you see on our Squiggles by Charlie collection.
